Yet When I am Unfaithful, You are Faithful Still.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

Until I started walking with Jesus, I never fully understood or appreciated what it meant to be faithful. As a child, relationships were modeled in a way that made them look very expendable; here today, gone tomorrow. As a result, my perception of relationships became jaded and unrealistic. Daily I witnessed the struggle between my parents; each of them trying to get their own way; fighting-yelling- it was like all out war in our house, one against the other. If there wasn't yelling, the days were defined by thick, black, and deafening silence which left me feeling extremely empty and very lonely. Eventually my parents divorced, leaving me with many questions and much confusion.

All along Jesus was that unknown love that my heart longed for. After many years when I finally met Jesus I knew that He was different. I knew my life would never be the same and I welcomed this! As time passed and as I grew closer to God, I started to realize the beauty of God's faithfulness. It was steadfast and .unwavering; true and pure. I grew in confidence knowing that He was the One who would never leave or abandon me. I learned that I could count on Him, and regardless of my faulty and sinful nature, God was always faithful to me, even when I wasn't faithful to Him.

Now I see the beauty of God's word and His faithfulness through the ages. He is a God who stands firm and who never abandons His children. Through my marriage, I can see the intricate gold thread of Gods unwavering faithfulness being weaved into our family and everyday lives. His love and faithfulness are sure and steady, His love remains while everything else fades away. Great oh Lord, is your faithfulness!

There is a beautiful song, an old hymn, that I love listening to that speaks of the faithfulness of God. It's name is: "Great is Thy Faithfulness and was written by Thomas Obadiah Chisholm in 1923. My favorite rendition is sung by Cece Winans. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/PuCp6XlJ2S4?si=yFx9_jfcKNToBPb0

"...Great is thy faithfulness, Great is thy faithfulness. Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed thy hand hath provided. Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me!"
